Located central to those it serves, the Richard Kemp Center will serve as a bastion of hope, purpose and vision for the Black community.
Through community partnerships the Richard Kemp Center, will contain a Community Center, Youth Activity Center and Art and Science Centers of Excellence will focus on wellness, youth, cultural empowerment and economic development. Programming and services will include cultural empowerment activities and programs (presentations, commemorations and celebrations, and arts activities), people support (personal wellness and development, small business support and wealth management), youth programming (including mentoring, homework assistance and STEAM cultivation, and sports), community empowerment (events and activities, spiritual and emotional support, group discussions), and workforce development (client and employer services).
Though the VRJA has established a framework of programs and services to be offered at the Richard Kemp Center, community members and partners are invited to prioritize the importance of these programs and services. Community partners and stakeholders are invited to offer program and service proposals. Community partners and stakeholders and VRJA will provide programming. Programs and activities conducted in the Richard Kemp Center will go towards addressing areas where community members are currently underserved.
